Can You Hear Me Can You Hear Me
- #1
Hi guys,
Could you please help me to identify the difference between the following questions. The idea is to ask a person if he/she can hear what you are saying in case there is a groundwork racket. Which is the near appropriate question to ask in this situation?
Can you hear me?
Do you hear me?
Are you hearing me?
Cheers...

Most appropriate would exist, "Can y'all hear me?"
You could utilise the other ii, but I would acquaintance them rather with argumentative situations where the question is whether the person is actually listening/paying attention.
Mom to son: You're non going out to play until you lot finish your dinner! Do you hear me?
Girlfriend: So, since nosotros're not compatible, I'grand breaking upwardly with you.Boyfriend: No, you tin't. Girlfriend: Are you hearing me? I said, information technology's not working out.

Would a lack of "tin" in a reply be less natural than a sentence with information technology? For instance,
Tin you hear whatsoever sounds outside?
Yeah, I hear sounds outside.
(of course, bold you - for some reason - did want to respond in a total sentence)

Would a lack of "tin can" in a respond be less natural than a judgement with it? For instance,
Tin can you hear whatever sounds exterior?
Yes, I hear sounds outside.(of form, assuming y'all - for some reason - did desire to answer in a full sentence)
Yes. Nobody I know would use that as a reply: it sounds very stilted.
It'southward very common to 'shorten' a reply rather than repeat the wording of the original (which is a fact that a lot of textbooks seem to ignore ), only in that item case I'd expect something more than along the lines of "Yeah, I can" or "I don't think so".
